Opera North Youth Company (for ages 13 – 19) – January recruitment

ONYC is a new project for young people to explore the arts, experience professional productions and develop skills as an ensemble performer.

The Youth Company will focus on performance skills, exploring art forms, productions and theatre making with a team of professional artists.  During April – July 2014 we will focus on producing a high quality piece of theatre offering opportunities to perform, direct, compose, design, work backstage and many more.

The Youth Company is made up of two groups; participants will opt to take part as either a member of the Youth Chorus or Youth Artists’. The Youth Chorus will focus on developing singing and musicianship skills. The Youth Artists’ will explore and experiment with a range of art forms, devising, composing and exploring the process of theatre making.

Weekly sessions will take place on Thursday evenings during term time from October – July 2014. The project costs £30 per term including all performances and visits. Please note Term 3 (April – July) is optional.

We don’t want the project cost to prevent anyone from taking part in our projects. A number of bursary places are available to families and individuals experiencing financial difficulties. Please contact me directly to discuss further, all discussions will be treated in full confidence.

We look forward to hearing from you!
