Wishing Well Team Celebrate New Programme

The Wishing Well 'Music in Healthcare Settings' Team at Rhythmix celebrated a new programme of work making music with older people affected by acute dementia. We'd love to hear from others working in this area!

As part of our Wishing Well Music in Healthcare Setting programme and in partnership with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, we ran our first session last week, making music with older people affected by acute dementia. The sessions are at the Harold Kidd Unit and delivered by Wishing Well 'Music in Healthcare Settings' Team members Anna Dolphin and Zoe Konez.

Feedback from the first session inculded

“This music has given me courage” – staff informed us that this person had been frightened in the night.

“I did not think I could hear, but  I heard the music for the first time. It went in here”, (gestures to ears) “and I heard it here” (puts hand on chest/heart).

Wishing Well has an immediate impact on the lives of children, young people, adults, families & staff in Healthcare settings in SE England using music, voices, instruments and music technology to sooth, distract and uplift.
