The Carousel Singers Band
A blog about a band made up of learning disabled musicians and music facilitators. The band supports a learning disabled choir called 'the carousel singers'
Carousel is an award winning charity based in Brighton. We run projects aimed at supporting learning disabled artists across a variety of creative arts. One of the projects is the 'Carousel Singers' which comprises of a learning disabled choir of about 30 members and a band which is made up of musicians with learning disabilities and music facilitators. The project has recently started incorporating the use of a notation system called figurenotes which utilises colour coding to make music notation more accessible. We have had some really positive experiences trialing this last term when we used the system to create a several pieces of music.
