Level 4 Certificate for Music Educators open for applications
Are you looking for a recognised qualification that will help you take the next step in your career as a music educator?
The Level 4 Certificate for Music Educators is open for applications now through Music Education Solutions. This online, distance-learning qualification is equivalent to the end of the first year of an undergraduate degree, and carries the post-nominals CMETCL. It was conceived as part of the original National Plan for Music Education, in recognition of the lack of qualification routes for anyone who wants to work in music education without undertaking a PGCE and becoming a classroom teacher. To date, hundreds of educators have benefitted from this qualification, finding that it has helped develop their practice, as well as their career prospects!
The programme is flexible, allowing you to start at any point in the year, and take up to 2 years to complete. Whilst on the programme you will be supported by an experienced mentor who will guide you on your journey, providing support, advice and encouragement. You will consider: theoretical topics such as how children and young people learn musically; practical issues such as how to plan, deliver and assess activities, and manage behaviour; and important legal requirements such as Safeguarding, and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. All the assignments for the programme involve you trying things out in your own education context; instead of writing essays you'll be exploring how different strategies work for you in your setting.
As the first and longest running centre for this qualification, Music Education Solutions has successfully supported community musicians, workshop leaders, teaching assistants, EYFS and primary teachers, instrumental teachers, and international teachers through the qualification. We have a wealth of experience to offer, and would love to support you on your journey!
