Music Leader Peer Support Network
Event description
Quench Arts is launching a new monthly Music Leader Peer Support Network. This is aimed at music leaders and teachers and will provide a supportive space for people to network, to trial new activities, discuss ideas and challenges and gain tips and inspiration from others. You can be an experienced practitioner or just starting your career.
James Stanley will be facilitating these sessions. James originally trained through our New Horizons programme and, since then, has progressed to be a freelance musician in high demand, having worked with Mac Makes Music, The Hive, Base Studios, Makes Some Noise and The SongLab on participatory music projects with young people in challenging circumstances. James is a multi-instrumentalist, avid songwriter and also highly skilled in music technology, regularly writing for film and media. He is currently a lead artist on Quench Arts’ Wavelength project (for young people with mental health conditions) and Musical Connections (for vulnerable adults). He regularly delivers training sessions for Quench Arts. James is a Bronze/Silver/Gold Arts Award Advisor and has been trained in Mental Health First Aid and Autism Awareness.
The first session is on Thursday 27th April, 7-9pm, at our base the Afro Caribbean Millennium Centre, 339 Dudley Road, Winson Green B18 4HB. An element of each session will focus on a topic each month, with suggestions from the group welcome for future sessions. For this first session, James will focus some of the session on using music tech as a music leader. James will prepare some activities and discussion starters for each session but will open the floor to everyone attending to contribute their own ideas and opinions. He will also offer some space for people to trial a practical activity of their own if they want to.
Sessions cost £5 to attend which includes refreshments and can be booked here: https://tinyurl.com/QuenchArtsEventbrite
