Music or Cash?

We asked Young People if they prefer Music experience or Cash?

At our Trinity Garden Party (May 2019) we asked young people if they had the choice would they rather have access to free regular music sessions or £500 cash.

The answers were surprisingly split 50/50 in favour of music/cash. Those who choose ‘music’ were experiencing challenges circumstances and felt that Making Tracks was important to improving their situation with one young person saying, "Music is life!".

The young people who said ‘cash’ talked about what they’d already learnt from the project and apply what they’d learnt in the real world setting. They all chose ‘cash’ in order to take forward their music making in their own direction and invest in themselves as artists (notably, one young person had already paid to bring their own film crew to the event) and explained how they would use the cash for making a video and marketing themselves.

What we learnt: Ask braver questions!
