One Voice SEND Songwriting Project Taster Track!
One Voice is an SEND Song writing project funded by Youth Music and delivered by BYMT in partnership with Living Song CLC. Here is one of the songs written during the project to give you a flavour of what’s been achieved so far.
The first clip is a rough recording of the song Electricity taken from an initial workshop at Midfield Special Provision facilitated by Jane Wheeler, Abi Asante and Mohan Dhur of Living Song CLC. They used the children’s words and vocal ideas to fashion a song with facts about electricity with a very simple chorus enabling all the children to join in. The second clip is the professionally produced backing track that will be available, as part of a resource pack with sheet music and Makaton signs, at the end of October. There will be 24 songs all written by the children from Bromley Special Provisions on a variety of themes - some inspired by books and others by class topics such as Dinosaurs, Seasons and Heroes.
It has been a wonderful project so far. As well as the song writing workshops there has been CPD for the Special Provision Staff and opportunities for the children to get together to sing their songs at cluster rehearsals and to perform them for friends and families at a Celebration event accompanied by 5-piece band.. I hope to post further reflections on this soon!
