Orchestras for All - an approach to inclusive ensembles
Event description
Led by Orchestras for All’s artistic director Emma Oliver-Trend, this in-person practical music session will look at lesson and rehearsal strategies to improve the inclusion, progress and community in your ensembles.
The session is relevant to anyone leading an instrumental ensemble of any age group and ability, including school-based music groups to borough-wide ensembles, across primary and secondary, beginner to advanced.
The session will include inclusive warm ups and rehearsal strategies, boosting active learning and autonomy through reflective practice in young musicians, and discussion in involving hard to reach young people. This will be a practical session so please bring your instrument.
This session is open to all music educators working in the boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Royal Greenwich:
- instrumental tutors/peripatetic teachers
- primary, secondary and SEND teachers with a responsibility for music
- workshop leaders
- community musicians
Sound Connections and the South Riverside Music Partnership are working together to deliver a training and mentoring programme for music teachers, tutors and community musicians in Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Royal Greenwich supported by the Scops Arts Trust.
