Get Known offers Live Performance videos to young bands and artists.

Get Known is a project that provides funded live performance videos and studio experiences for young bands and artists and runs to November. In the last six months we have produced 20 videos that have received 9553 views to date, worked with about 75 young musicians, and are currently mentoring another 10.  We encourage young bands and artists from the East of England to contact us through our facebook page – getknownbeheard if they want to be involved.

We have shot videos in churches run by the Churches Conservation Trust in Colchester and Brentwood, a commercial recording studio, the Kingsway Hall in Dovercourt, a vintage clothes warehouse and the Museum of Power.  All the videos are available to view at  www.youtube.com/user/getknownbeheard There are over 60 videos on the channel that have been produced and nearly 90,000 views.

Through equipment funded by Tendring Big Society Fund we have been able to achieve high quality video production and to provide training for a young video and sound engineering team specialising in live performance videos. The Getknown channel has attracted broader interest that will further provide exposure for the young performers.

SOFAR Sounds operate secret events where musicians play to a small audience in interesting locations. At these events live performance videos are recorded and viewed on their website which has over 10M views. The venture started in London and there are now 208 cities involved worldwide we have set up a centre with them in Ipswich.
