Jam Buddies half-term Workshop Day

Jam Buddies half term Workshop Day on the 15th February.  11.00 - 17.30

Turning Tides is a CIC project based in Crediton who’s aim is to provide access to music and the arts to all people including those labelled as having ‘learning difficulties’ and/or ‘autism’.  One of Turning Tide’s activities is Jam Buddies which is based in Okehampton – specifically, the recreation room behind the King’s Arms pub.   Jam Buddies runs every Wednesday after school at 3.30 during term time, and encourages young people to come together and learn about all aspects of music.  For example, writing songs and lyrics, learning to play a wide array of musical instruments, recording (sound and video), looping etc etc.  And these sessions can include individual instrument lessons after the main session has ended.   But what happens during holiday time?  Well, in the half term breaks we run regular workshop days.  We are running one on Wednesday the 15th February and it will be a song performance related day: 11.00 – 12.30 – Learn to play a song using the wide array of musical instruments we have available 13.00 – 15.00 – Learn how to sing the song 15.30 – 16.30 – Learn how to perform the song as if you were playing to an audience 16.45 – 17.30 – Perform the song in front of your parents or friends – don’t forget to invite them!   Young people get a lot from the day and they can join all or as many of the sessions as they’d like to – all for £15.  Come along!  Just bring a packed lunch and plenty of enthusiasm!
