What’s involved in the second stage application form?

Hopefully at this time of the year, funding applications are the last thing on your mind!! We all deserve a well-earned break!

Nevertheless, after Christmas, (on the 25th and 26th January 2012) Youth Music will be inviting those organisations who were successful at passing stage one of our application process to submit a second stage application form

From there, the deadline to submit a second stage application form is 20th February 2012.

If you’re keen to know what information needs to be included in the second stage form, we have provided some brief bullet points below with the key areas on which we ask for more information.

Don’t worry though – this blog will still be available in the new year!! So remember – you can digest before or after some Christmas turkey and trimmings!

The second stage application form:

At stage two of our application process, we look at the whole of your Youth Music Programme. A Youth Music Programme is formed by combining the modules that were successful at stage one of our application process. We assess your application on this basis.

At stage two, we ask applicants for more detail about:

  • Intended outcomes. Specifically we ask applicants about the ‘indicators’ that they will monitor to determine the extent to which they are making progress towards achieving their intended outcomes;
  • Plans to evaluate their Youth Music Programme. In particular we ask applicants about the approach they will take to gather the key sources of evidence to monitor and evaluate their work;
  • Plans to deliver their Youth Music Programme. We will ask applicants to identify key dates that they intend to achieve certain outputs and other deliverables across their programme. The outputs and deliverables highlighted next to the key dates will need to demonstrate appropriate progress through their programme
  • How they are managing risk. We ask about any risks areas applicants have identified in relation to delivering their programme or those specific to their organisation. All these risks need to be managed effectively to ensure the Youth Music Programme runs smoothly;
  • The people and partners that will support the management of the Youth Music Programme. In addition, applicants need to include letters of support from their key partners. These letters will outline the roles and responsibilities of the key partners involved.
  • Organisational policies and procedures. These will evidence that applicants have the appropriate processes in place to ensure a high quality Youth Music Programme is delivered;
  • A full Youth Music Programme budget breakdown. The budget will detail all the elements of the Youth Music Programme together.
  • Other supporting information.  In particular, applicants have the opportunity to respond to any areas for development identified following the assessment of their first stage application form.

How is the form structured? If you are invited to submit a second stage application form, they should be completed and submitted online.

It is made up of five sections:

  • SECTION ONE: ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION
  • SECTION TWO: MONITORING AND EVALUATING YOUR OUTCOMES
  • SECTION THREE: PLANNING OUTPUTS AND ACTIVITIES
  • SECTION FOUR: MANAGING YOUR YOUTH MUSIC PROGRAMME
  • SECTION FIVE: DOWNLOADS & ATTACHMENTS

In section five applicants will have to download and complete a budget form and declaration. Prior to submitting an application, applicants will also need to upload letters or emails of support from the programme’s key partners.
