Soundwave - DIY Music -Dischord Spaces project-Wray Castle.

This is the fourth year we have run our DIY Music project with support from Youth Music.

It's the part of Soundwave's programme that gives our participants insight into careers within the music and creative industries. In West Cumbria the focus on careers within the Nuclear Industry is overwhelming and young people with a creative skill are often made to think that thier skill and passion should only be viewed as a hobby. With DIY we aim to give these young people real world, hands on experience of some of the options for careers and further education.

We invite guest artists with a particular skill set to join us delivering the project, our participants work side by side with industry professionals and create amazing work.

This year the focus has been on raising the profile of our new vocal harmony project 'Dischord'.

Dischord are working on arranging popular songs and performing them in stunning spaces with epic acoustics.

We have a videographer working with us who guides particpants on location choice, lighting, camera work and sound recording. Then producing a video to share online.

Dischord Spaces project will visit four locations, Wray Castle near Windermere Lake is the first location, the Wray Castle team were amazing with the group, they gave us a tour of the National Trusts 'Women & Power" exhibition then after closing time gave us the run of the castle.
