Sugar Stealer's Music Collective - Seraphic Sounds
Sugar Stealer's is a project where we provide workshops for women and non-binary folks to explore and express themselves creatively. We have recently embarked on engaging women and non-binary youth to create a music collective together and to create a new space in the community.
After 2 months, following discussions, research, mood boards and doodles, these young individuals developed their own brand and identity: Seraphic Sounds; a name developed from playing with the idea of a seraph being an angelic figure while wanting to be individuals who make change and are more dare-devils challenging the spaces in local communities. Their overall arching theme? Infinite inter-connectedness: the belief that everything in the universe is connected to each other endlessly, sharing the same energy and that everything exists with reference to each other. From the design in microscopic cells to whole galaxies light years apart, the universe is all intertwined and these youth want to share this positive energy with others. They wish to engage in providing a candid, inclusive and safe environment for others like themselves.
Of course, their brand and image wouldn't be complete without a logo. One of the collective participants created the final logo with everyone choosing an image they felt represented them which was incorporated as tattoos. The result was an adorable cherub with a bit of rebel inked into it's DNA. (See image at bottom of page).
Taking homage to Sugar Stealer's official colours and the collective poster a colour palette was created. Using deeper tones of more traditional feminine colours such as purple, orange and pink allowed the members to break and subvert the traditional feminine narrative and include non-binary folk while pushing for the inclusive safe environment they aim to build.
