Supporting Mental Health in the Arts and Cultural Sector
Event description
With the Coronavirus pandemic exacerbating an already alarming mental health crisis in young people, supporting the mental wellbeing of those you work with has never been more critical than it is today
In this four-part course, you will learn how to better understand the needs of the young people you are working with, create a culture of compassion, reflection and healing through the arts, and support positive mental health in creative and cultural settings. Participants will leave the course feeling safe, informed and knowledgeable in their approach to working with mental health issues and illnesses.
Created and delivered by artist & therapist Charlie Henry and creative director Helen le Brocq, our trainers will share insights & theories from their professional journeys. Over four 2.5 hour sessions Charlie and Helen will explore psychological theory (neuroscience, attachment theory, managing trauma), mental health issues and illnesses, guidance on best practice working with vulnerable people, ways to look after your own wellbeing and how to balance the needs of individuals in group situations.
The course is split over 4 sessions running over two weeks in September from 10am -12.30pm. The dates of the sessions are:
Week 1:
Monday 14th September
Friday 18th September
Week 2:
Monday 21st September
Friday 25th September
