Sussex Business Awards Press Release

Last night Rhythmix were delighted to have won a Sussex Business Award in the Creative and Digital Skills category! Next year we’re turning 20 and this is a great lead in to the celebrations of our work that we’ll be having next year.

This is in recognition of our innovative use of creativity and inclusive technology to help people make music. From young people with physical and learning disabilities to older people living with dementia, we're using technology creatively to build a bridge to people and help them build connections through music.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helps make this work possible - our young people, families, partners, donors, the team and our music leaders. Thank you.

Reflecting on the awards, Rhythmix board member Pauline Farrell said,

"At Rhythmix we believe strongly that there should be no barriers to access the arts. Our trained music leaders go into a variety of settings regularly, bringing acoustic instruments and music technology right to the people who can benefit. The interactions provide vital stimulation to help them develop, and can distract them from difficult or distressing circumstances. It also can create a sense of community. It is fantastic to see Rhythmix's work recognised and honoured by the Sussex Business Awards and with further support, we can continue to expand the impact of our work, bringing music making opportunities to some of the most vulnerable people across the South East and in doing so, improve the quality of life for people in a range of settings. Thank you very much."
