SWITCH - Band Life

SWITCH performing in the Midlands Arts Centre, Outdoor Arena

It’s been quite a year for our young talented musicians here at The Midlands Arts Centre from a successful summer gig, to their first performance in the capital as well as some new faces!

SWITCH Sunset

It was a privilege to have SWITCH perform as the first act of the year in MAC’s Outdoor Arena for their SWITCH Sunset gig. Performing a number of old favourites from Courage to Care to Makes Me Stronger mixed with new tracks such as Key to Paradise illustrating that summer vibe, quite fitting for this year’s sizzling heatwave!

The band were excited to launch their new album, SWITCH Sunset at the gig and they shared the stage with Sandwell based band, The Warriors.

In the run up to SWITCH Sunset, members of the band were given the opportunity to promote their gig with an interview by none other than SWITCH radio! The musicians spoke to presenter, James Sandy about band life as well as giving advice to other emerging young musicians.

Their dedication and enthusiasm for music goes beyond practicing within the four walls of MAC’s music studio each week, this is exemplified through the time they spend outside of rehearsal creating new material.

Birmingham is not the limit….

A week after their successful summer gig, SWITCH were invited to perform at The Squidz Club in London! A playful event organised by the charity, Heart n Soul who support young people with learning disabilities. This event gave a number of 10-25 year olds the chance to enjoy themselves and let loose in an exciting and playful environment! From watching films in the outdoor cinema and striking a pose in the photo booth to listening to open mic performances and dancing the night away with the silent disco and the vibrant rhythms of the Do Your Own Thing DJs!

This was SWITCH’s first performance outside of Birmingham and a big opportunity for the band, proving that barriers are being broken and for them the sky is the limit to what they can achieve.

Positive Changes

A lot can happen within a year and SWITCH have seen a few changes over the last few months. SWITCH welcomed two new band members who have brought their own flair to the band keeping in tune with a positive spirit and enthusiasm for music.

After a break for the Summer, SWITCH were back to business providing entertainment for an awards evening! The glitz and glamour of the evening was just another event to add to their ever growing experience as musicians, taking them out of their comfort zone and performing to different audiences.

Not only are the band growing through their performances but their skill set too - this was portrayed in a recent DJ session, which certainly proved to be a hit with the youngsters!

We may be biased, but it didn’t take long for SWITCH to produce another potential hit, Positivity! The band are inspired by what they see around them, what impacts them as individuals both good and bad (but mostly good) and what they desire in life.

SWITCH on the BEAT

As the year draws to an end, SWITCH are keen to go out on a high note with their Christmas gig, SWITCH on the BEAT.

The gig promises to be another lively evening showcasing tracks from their latest album, SWITCH Sunset, some of their new songs and a chance for them to show off their new DJ skills!

MAC Makes Music are incredibly proud of SWITCH’s achievements to date and the progress each member has made. The future is certainly bright for these young musicians and we look forward to what is yet to come!
