Teaching Music During a Pandemic

The last 7 months has been a tricky period for all music teachers out there.

If you're a singing teacher, a guitar teacher or a drum teacher, you'll have faced the same thing.

Since the global pandemic started, our workload and our working methods has been changed. We as teachers have been forced to adpot our approach and change the way we work in order to survive the period of uncertainty that we're facing right now.

If you're a music teacher and you're wondering what you can do in order to safe guard your business moving forward here are some things to consider:

  1. Teach Online - Speak to your existing students about the possibility of moving lessons to Skype or Zoom. While this never can replace face to face lessons, it will help students continue to learn while times are tough. Until you are able to fully return to teaching in your normal way.
  2. Set Up a Safe Space - If you have the provisions to do so, you can create a safe space in your teaching environment. You can encourage the wearing of face coverings, use of hand sanitizer and social distancing to provide a safe teaching experience.
  3. Expand Your Reach - On the subject of online lessons, it might be worth considering to increase your reach. Consider advertising outside of your area so that you can attract students from further afield.

Im positive that if we all work hard and think forward, we can overcome this tough time.
