An update from Drake Music's Think22 Programme
The team at Drake Music have been working hard over the first year of our Think22 strategic programme to boost inclusion in music education. We have been delivering lots of training for teachers, schools, music leaders and music education hubs and have also delivered inclusive music making sessions for lots of young Disabled people, using music technology to enable full creative expression. We were proud finalists for the Creative & Cultural Skills 'Creative Choices' Award, celebrating those who have shown continued excellence in breaking down the barriers to entry in the creative and cultural sector. Plus, we continued our advocacy campaign to increase the diversity of the music education workforce, with a specific focus on supporting the training & recruitment of more Disabled music teachers. In fact, you may have read this article in the Guardian about it.
We are into Year 2 now with lots more delivery underway, including the launch of a brand new training course aimed at music educators of all types and stripes: Inclusion and Music Tech in Practice. But before we get too far into that we wanted to celebrate the successes we've had by sharing some key stats and a great video from Soundbox - a partnership project to create an inclusive ensemble.
