Soundtots
About
Soundtots is a music-making programme for 0-5 year olds based in 3 key wards of Birmingham; Lozells and East Handsworth, Shard End, and Soho. It is an interactive and fun programme that is designed to raise both the musical and personal outcomes for the young children involved. During the Soundtots sessions, music specialists deliver activities to develop music skills in pitch, rhythm and co-ordination, but these sessions have also been proven to support language acquisition such as vocalisation, listening, diction and vocabulary. The 20-week programme has been based on research led by Professor Adam Ockelford and responds to Public Health England’s suggestion for evidence-based activity that promotes the most effective types of language-boosting interactions.
