Writing and recording music remotely with a group of musicians with learning disabilities. Part 5: Writing and recording music

With the lyrics written we set about writing and recording the song which now had the title 'Lockdown Cheer up' One band member had expressed a keen interest to include a Jazz feel. We explored the loop bank within our sequencer and found a suitable jazz bass sound, this formed the foundation for our song. We had been able to distribute ipads and figurenote resources to the band members and they could use these to compose motifs whilst my colleague and I notated these ideas for inclusion in the song. We discussed how the music should sound and previewed instrument patches in the sequencer, the band members chose their favourites. We recorded the voice parts through the conference call software and after several sessions work we had arrived at a completed song. We hope you enjoy hearing it! https://soundcloud.com/user-424013868/lockdown-cheer-up
