Event description

Celebrating 100 years since the first BBC Radio Broadcast, NYMAZ and Brass Bands England are hosting a course of composition workshops focussing on radio inspired themes.

Wednesdays 6.30-8pm, Selby venue to be confirmed

Sept 21,28

Oct 5,12,19

November 2, 9,16

Join us for a series of workshops exploring compositional techniques for brass quartets, with expert guidance and support from established brass composer and educator, Andrea Price.

You will compose a piece suitable for a Brass Quartet and workshop your pieces with live musicians as you develop your pieces throughout the duration of the course.

On 16 November, 7pm, your piece will be performed by a live brass Quartet at Selby Abbey in a public concert.

We invite budding young composers aged 14-25 to attend. We advise you have some composition experience to get the most out of these sessions, but you do not need to be an expert! This is an ideal opportunity for those currently studying for GCSE’s, A-Levels or BTEC, however this is not a requirement.

We particularly encourage young women to join us for this workshop series, but all genders are welcome.

Don’t miss out! Book your FREE places on this 8-session course at Eventbrite link no later than Friday 16 September.
