Introducing World Heart Beat Music Bambinos

At World Heart Beat Music Academy, we promote music that bridges cultural, political, economic and linguistic barriers, inspiring a passion for playing musical instruments and influencing a generation of often alienated young people. World Heart Beat Music Bambinos is a brand new Early Years Music project, funded by Youth Music and extending opportunities to learn music to children aged 0-5 and their parents. We want this age-group to have opportunities to engage with music and enjoy the positive personal and social benefits this generates, with a focus on long-term musical development.

At World Heart Beat Music Academy, we promote music that bridges cultural, political, economic and linguistic barriers, inspiring a passion for playing musical instruments and influencing a generation of often alienated young people. World Heart Beat Music Bambinos is a brand new Early Years Music project, funded by Youth Music, that builds on our experience teaching traditional and non-traditional music from a range of genres to children aged 6-21, extending opportunities to learn music to children aged 0-5 and their parents. We want this age-group to have opportunities to engage with music and enjoy the positive personal and social benefits this generates, with a focus on long-term musical development.

We have been working with researchers from Roehampton University’s applied music centre and using their Sounds of Intent in the Early Years framework, adapting it to suit teaching music from a range of cultures including Celtic, Asian and jazz. This project uses the assessment tools within the Sounds of Intent in the Early Years framework to identify the impact of each distinct musical genre, this is the first project of its type. Through weekly observations for each child and a ‘Music Record’ of their progress, parents can also see their children’s musical development unfold and take an active role in understanding and encouraging their child’s creativity.

We provide a relaxed, playful and musically-rich environment that creates opportunities for babies and toddlers to observe, explore, engage and process in their own ways. Children are introduced to a range of percussion, string, wind instruments and folktales, children’s songs and lullabies from all cultures to establish a truly unique and dynamic programme.
