Music Bambinos Project in Battersea gets a Piano!

On 28th March, Erased Tapes Records hosted an intimate evening of piano performances from Peter Broderick, Michael Price & Peter Gregson and Douglas Dare at The Courtyard Theatre in celebration of Piano Day 2016. Proceeds raised from this event were used to purchase a piano especially for World Heart Beat Music Academy’s new Early Years project on Patmore Estate. We are immensely grateful for this generous donation and the impact it will have on our World Heart Beat Music Bambinos project. 3 year-old Oroh came into this music space, ran straight over to the piano and started playing it, then turned to his mother and said “mum, I don’t want to go home!”

Patmore Estate is one of the largest housing estates in Wandsworth and an area of extreme income deprivation, with an unemployment rate of 1 in 3 and where opportunities to engage in creative, cultural activities are few. We believe in the power that music has to change lives and reach out to those who may feel isolated, bringing joy, vitality and purpose. By bringing the Music Bambinos project into the Patmore Estate, we are connecting with parents and also very young children at this very important time in their social and musical development.

“A piano embodies so many dreams, untold stories and journeys for an entire generation of future musicians.” – Sahana Gero (Founder and Artistic Director of World Heart Beat Music Academy)
