Real Voice, Northumberland- Annual Programme Launch

Easter is nearly upon us, and Real Voice is kicking off two of it’s annual programmes for young people in Northumberland. Aiming to give as many young people as possible the chance to participate and create music that represents them.

Creating a music video in Cramlington

In Cramlington we are offering a four-day intensive workshop for young people to attend. Young people will co-create every aspect from writing the song, choreographing the moves and starring in their own music video. While a lot will be packed into a short amount of time, young people will have the opportunity to work with a range of local musicians and artists from the North East.

The theme of the music video is social action and will be driven by young people writing a song and demonstrating what issues matter them through the video.

Sessions will be from 19th April- 22nd April and FREE for all young people to attend.

Real Deal- Mini Album

Real Deal is one of the groups we are working with in Ashington. Over the next few weeks they will be working with artists Holly Rees and Arian Sterreveld to write and produce their own mini-tracks. All the music themes around where they live and how they feel about life right now. Examining feelings such as anxiety and pride.

Young people have been generating their own raps and lyrics which over Easter they will work to record into short tracks. Constructing their own beats and backing tracks to accompany. An illustrator will also work with them to design their own cover art.  This will add to the final product forming a short album which is uniquely Real Deal.

Both pieces of work created in Northumberland will be showcased to Real Voices groups and online for young people in the area to enjoy and engage with.
