Gloucestershire Music Makers' work in Pupil Referral Units

Gloucestershire Music Makers (GlosMM) have been running weekly small group and one-to-one music mentoring sessions for young people who attend three pupil referral units (PRUs) in Gloucestershire. The aim is to engage young people and build their confidence in learning. These three documents are mini case-studies* used to give a snap-shot of the work and some of the outcomes, and have proved helpful in explaining the work to commissioners.

The programme of work began in November 2012, and is part of the SWAG (Swindon, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire) Musical Inclusion programme, and the Inclusion Strategy of Make Music Gloucestershire, the county's music education hub. Funding has come from the Hub; Youth Music and Gloucester and Forest of Dean Pupil Referral Services.

GlosMM have agreed for these documents to be shared on the Musical Inclusion networks.

What do you think are the ingredients of a good case study for advocacy to potential funders or partners?

And what makes a good case study for sharing practice among your colleagues and/or for evaluation purposes?

Do you have examples you could share?
