Lyrical Revolutions!

Group of women and girls singing on grass in the sunshine by campfire.

After a delay due to 'you know what', we were finally able to deliver the second part of our Lyrical Revolutions project. With support from The Women's Centre, Cornwall, we are bringing together women and girls between the ages of 8 and 25 in Cornwall to learn Greenham songs and create their own protest songs.

We still had to stick to very small numbers but we raised our voices to the skies and made a big sound! Participants wrote lyrics on the environment, climate change, litter, looking after local beaches, equality and children's rights. Some of them even learnt a bit of accordion accompaniment!

They have been adding to their portfolios to gain their Arts Award qualification at the end of the summer.

We cannot wait for some of them to join us on part of our march from Cardiff to Greenham Common at the end of August. They will be able to teach their songs to the people on the march who will sing them through the streets of Welsh and English towns and villages!
