A Case Study - Vic

A case study from ReMarkable Arts Education

Music4U works with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and ReMarkable Arts Education to support young people living in challenging circumstances to engage with music-making and achieve excellence. Good news stories come to us regularly from ReMarkable's music leaders and we're very pleased to share another of them here:

"Vic has been a member of ReMarkable for three years. When we met him he was struggling at school. He was referred to us through his school's councilling service, who knew of our work and thought it might be helpful for Vic to join us. His confidence was at a real low and he had even made attempts on his own life in those days. Occasionally he was upset during rehearsals and it took him a long time to feel comfortable and begin to form friendships.

However, he has stayed with us over several projects and has become a really solid member of the group. He has become one of our most competent performers and has made firm friendships which have also transfered over to his school life, making that more comfortable. His musicianship has improved greatly and he is now a very confident keyboard player who has developed a passion for electronic music and composition.

Vic recently took part in Let's Rock 2017 (Music4U's major regional showcase event) as a keyboardist and member of the choir. He has come a long way in terms of personal development and confidence as well as becoming a skilled performer."
