BBC Performing Arts Fund Community Music Grants scheme launches

BBC Performaing Arts Fund's new community music scheme opens on 21/05/12. The deadline for applications is either 5pm on 29th June 2012 OR when the first 500 eligible applications have been received, whichever is the soonest.

The Community Music scheme aims to help not for profit community music groups the length and breadth of the UK to carry out training, attract new audiences, encourage new members and raise their profile in their community.

Community groups can either apply for up to £5,000 for a development project (Option 1) OR up to £10,000 for a project that includes the commission of a new piece of music (Option 2). However, the average grant awarded will probably be less than the maximum allowed under each option.

The Fund is seeking applications from groups working across all ages and all genres. They want to encourage groups to take on more challenging projects and to collaborate with professional artists and other local organisations.

Go to the BBC Performing Arts Fund website for more information.

In addition, keep an eye out for the Music Fellowship Scheme, which launches in August and will be seeking applications from music companies, organisations, venues and festivals from across the UK to host a Fellow.  The scheme aims to support individuals through the early stages of their music careers; helping them to establish themselves in the professional world through bespoke placements within existing music organisations.
