Soundtracks: Reaching across Communities

The Soundtracks programme, is delivering music sessions across Blackburn with Darwen and Bolton in partnership with Youth Centres and Onside Youth Zones. With Youth Music funding, Bolton Music Service has developed a core programme of weekly inclusive music sessions for young people from the age of 12- 19 across five youth centres. Alongside this the Soundtracks performance programme reaches across Youth Zones and local community venues, giving young musicians new opportunities to perform whatever their level of experience.

An amazing team of music leaders supported by youth workers and an emerging workforce of trainee leaders have encouraged young people to play, perform, compose, arrange and rehearse. The sessions have brought new activities to youth centres and supported young people to make new friends, develop new skills, raise aspirations and find new levels of confidence. The most recent Soundtracks open mic evening at Bolton Lads and Girls Club provided an evening of music ranging from first performances to band instrumentals and original compostitions. There was a fabulous atmosphere with guest bands from Blackburn youth centres and an amazing audience throughout the night.
