Frustrated at the lack of organisations and facilities for children/young adults in my area to access music as a way of individual expression and as a way of therapy I'm wanting to bring something myself. I am married to a English gypsy man I have three children 17, 15, and 1years old. My son (15) is some what troubled has experienced difficulties in his learning and been to several schools. It has took for him to be in his final year till one teacher decided she wanted to help. He is in the process of ADHD autism screening as well as referrals to CAHMS for mental health support. While all this is a great step forward he has been involved with the police due to lack of support and facilities that could of otherwise helped with intervention. He has been on referrals for youth offending and is once again on bail for fighting in youth gangs. I believe all this can be turned around and that our youth need to be able to access something positive especially through music as a way of channeling their emotions their home life's their negative environments. My son is especially interested in learning the process of producing music and has wrote some very poetic lyrics. I looked for something to help channel this interest and skill but was met with disappointment. I've decided to take this matter into my own hands and hopefully create something all can access. I currently work with children on the autistic spectrum, disabilities and their sibling groups providing support and access to all events activities and such as a lone worker. I am a teaching assistant trained and worked in schools and many organisations before. I've also worked for sure starts and volunteered in many places. I'm passionate to reach out and make a difference and believe there is a massive gap in my area for these children/young adults who so desperatly need this service. We have many talents and many inquisitive minds that would benefit from music in their lives.
