UVG Sing Safe sessions online

The Urban Vocal Group, UVG,

Over the past 16 weeks during the lockdown, UVG music leader Sally Salmon has been presenting a series of ‘Sing Safe’ videos.

These short tutorials give a unique insight into the mechanics of the voice, covering a range of topics that can help to both improve and protect the voice as well as looking at practical issues such as allergies, warming up, choosing rep, dealing with confidence issues and much more.

We are aware that there will be many young singers out there who do not have access to professional vocal tuition and wanted to share this fabulous resource so they too can benefit from Sally's knowledge and expertise. Sally will be adding a new video to the playlist every week until we are able to run our regular sessions so please feel free to share and to take advantage of this fantastic resource. The videos are topped and tailed by snippets of the UVG singers performing over the years.

UVG Sing Safe sessions with Sally

Sally Salmon joined The UVG as a volunteer in 2008 and subsequently became a music leader at both our Havant and Portsmouth groups. She had a passion for singing and teaching since her school days and in 2011 graduated from The University of Chichester with a BA (Hons) in Music with Instrumental and Vocal Teaching. Through personal experience, Sally had a keen interest in vocal health and in 2012 developed the UVG’s ‘Sing Safe’ syllabus which she continues to deliver today. In addition to her role with the UVG, Sally is a successful teacher and workshop leader who runs her own company specialising in vocal health and technique.
