WordPlay: National Orchestra for All Season Finale 2019
Event description
Join us for the finale of the National Orchestra for All 2018-2019 season WordPlay at 4pm on Sunday 14 April 2019 at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Our unique orchestra of 100 inspirational young musicians from across the UK, all nominated to take part for showing dedication and commitment to music in the face of challenging circumstances, comes to Birmingham this Spring for a spectacular performance.
This is the culmination of our 2018-2019 season, exploring how music can be inspired or influenced by the written and spoken word. Our amazing young musicians have been working hard over the last nine months, co-creating new music and working alongside up-and-coming spoken word and rap artists, and are looking forward to sharing their music with you.
Repertoire will include the world première of a new commission by composer Danyal Dhondy - An Orchestra of Overheard Conversations. Developed by NOFA members with workshop leader Fraser Trainer, this piece draws upon and develops motifs from the speech patterns of NOFA members captured in interviews last summer. We are thrilled to be joined on stage by Roundhouse resident artist, poet Kit Finnie, who has collaborated with Danyal on the piece and will be performing live on stage with NOFA in Birmingham.
Tickets are free and can be reserved on our website.
