Youth CHAOS - post-16 SEND music group
Youth CHAOS (Chatty Happy Activities on a Saturday) were one of the first groups we started working with in Rutland when our current Fund B project, "Music Forge", started back in 2015.
The music sessions happen about once a month.... have two lead musicians (Daniel Johnson (DJ and music producer) and Kate Rounding (flautist, percussionist, music production) from our Musical Inclusion Team)..... together with a different guest musician every time. Daniel and Kate ensure there is continuity and a familiar face each time... and the guest musicians bring in something a bit different to keep the sessions fresh... especially important as we've been going for three years now.
Over the years we've had the following guest musicians drop in... often more than once:
- Anna Marie Whittaker Johnson (vocals)
- Joel Barford (drums and percussion)
- Greg Coulson (bass, keys, guitars, vocals.... and well, pretty much everything!)
- Jon Kendall (guitar, vocals, songwriting)
- Akshay Sharma (beatboxing, Loop Station, MCing)
- Rebecca Price (Sound Control technologies)
- and myself.... although the less said about the bass guitar demo I gave them the better!
The kids are fantastic. They have a range of different needs... but all are absolutely engaged in the activities and a joy for the musicians to work with.
So... the great thing about posting a video... is that I don't have to write too much!
