Inclusive Folk: delivering folk music workshops with disabled young people

Event description

FREE professional development day, led by folk artist and educator Emmie Ward.

Share experience and content developed over the past six months through the English Folk Dance and Song Society’s Inclusive Folk programme funded by Postcode Community Trust.  Including the establishment of fortnightly Folk Unlimited creative music sessions at Cecil Sharp House, outreach in disability settings and a new resource.

Suitable for music educators wanting to widen their skills and understanding of using folk music, song and dance with young people with learning disabilities including those with complex needs.

This day will be full of ideas, guidance and tips, leaving you with the confidence, energy and skills to develop and inspire your own practice.  Presentations and practical sessions will explore high quality practice and how to embrace inclusion.

Led by the lead tutor of Folk Unlimited, Emmie Ward, with support from co-leader Joe Danks and trainee Freda D’Souza.

This day is guaranteed to be inspiring, challenging and most of all, fun!
