Happy Christmas from CHUMS - "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree"

This half term we have worked with another set of students from schools across Bedfordshire. Since the sessions went into December, we decided to add a little Christmas cheer and send a festive greeting to all the families we support. On the last couple of sessions, each group practised the song "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree". The video below is the gathering of some students from the groups singing and playing the song. From the start we had an idea of how we wanted the video to look, drawing inspiration from Jimmy Fallon's "All I want for Christmas is you" on youtube, however we did not have any of the decoration or background we desired. After inquiring with a few local businesses we managed to get hold of two large boxes of Christmas decorations for free, the only problem being that they did not necessarily match each other. After a couple of hours our creative team put together this fantastic backdrop (with only the bottom half of a Christmas tree!). We are so thankful to all the people who helped us create this video and to all the families who brought children along to perform. This is the perfect example of playing to people's strengths - personally, being terrible at decorating, I was able to rely on colleagues with a flare for making things look great and this was fundamental to the success of this video. Musically speaking, things were much more straight forward since we picked a song we knew was fairly popular and simple enough for all to sing along confidently. Being up to date with Facebook posts and Youtube videos seem to be helpful when planning something like this. It can give insight and ideas for you to turn your project into something exciting and current! We are really proud of the final outcome and hope you enjoy this video! Happy Christmas!
